Don’t forget, January 14th, 2 PM, at Vino Rossa; the um-teenth annual High Desert Brewers Association Holiday Party! The club will have beer and a main dish and would like you to bring something to share.
The Holiday party is the best time to renew you membership. There is no charge for this party. The dues are $15 per year for singles or $25 per year for a couple. It is also a great time to bring in new members.
Election of officers will be held. If you would like to run for an office, let us know by emailing bob@MBBF.org this week.
The big raffle will be held at the party; this is our main fund raiser so remember to bring some money for tickets!
We will also have the gift exchange. Bring a wrapped gift (nice or gag but not too expensive) to put into the pile and get a ticket to select a gift from those assembled. Its great fun.
We will also be looking for ideas for the next year. Make sure someone writes it down. Golf, bowling, softball, all go good with beer; what do you have in mind?
The next event will be the St. Valentine’s Day Party February 12th. Details to follow.
Make sure all of your friends in the club or other wise get the note. We always have problems getting the word out to everyone. Help us out, please.
See you at the party,
The HDBA

Hello All,
Better late than never, here is a rundown on The Club’s activities.
Our annual Halloween Party will take place on Sunday, October 30th, at 2 PM. The theme this year will be “Fairy Tales”. Please bring a food dish to share and the club will provide desert and beer. Frank did a bang up job on this year’s beer lineup. It includes; New Belgium Hoptober, Deschutes’ Mirror Pond, and the traditional Rogue Dead Guy Ale. Also for your dancing and listening pleasure, The Galaxy Forrest will perform for us (tips encouraged). They put on a great show. There will be a small $5 cover charge to help pay for the facility. Remember, you don’t have to dress in fairy tale costume, come any way you like. The Halloween Party will be at the New Sweden Hall (Grange).
We will also be awarding the ribbons from the Eastern Idaho State Fair Homebrew Competition at the party. This is a good opportunity to sign up new members.
Share this note with your friends and club members you know so we are sure to get the word out. Our old email system was wiped out by our webhost and we (Matt) are getting a new system up and running. Help us make it a good one.
Other upcoming Events:
In November we hope to do a holiday beer and wine tasting to get you all ready for the season. Frank will present the wines and Bob will present the beers that will enhance your holiday table. Bring a six or a bottle of your favorite and we will taste and discuss. We will go over food pairings and after dinner drinks. Watch for the details.
In December, there will be a charity “Santa Crawl”. We all dress up in Santa gear and roam around downtown IF. There may be drinking involved. You admission into the Santa Herd will be a donation for charity. It started last year and was great fun.
January will be the annual Holiday Party. The tentative date is January 14th. All ways a good time, it is also time for elections and dues payments. Frank has the beer lined up; Sierra Nevada Celebration and Full Sail Wreck the Halls.
February is St. Valentine’s Day Party on February 12th. The committee is hard at work to make this another special occasion.
St. Patrick’s Day Party will be on …St. Patrick’s Day! Friday March 17th! Frank has scored a half barrel of Beamish. If you haven’t had Beamish on St. Pat’s Day you have missed out. Be sure to put this one on your calendar.
If you have questions or suggestions email them to bob@ MBBF.org.
Hope to see you all at the party,
The Board of the High Desert Brewers Association

You may already aware of this event on July 28th.
Many members of the HDBA knew Dan Christopher, Manager at the Idaho Brewing Co. Dan passed away June 24 after a brief illness just after his 58th birthday. This will be a celebration of Dan’s life and his impact upon all of us.
Proceeds from the silent auction will go to a veterinary pet spade service in Blackfoot. Dan loved all animals and was involved in rescue programs. Thanks

Hi all,
We have finally got our stuff together and have a date for the Brew Day at the Idaho Brewing Company. Sorry it took so long, but that’s what happens when two old guys have to remember to call each other.
Here’s how it works. A number of home brewers in the club will bring their brewing equipment to the brewery and demonstrate their brewing techniques. There are a number of ways to make beer and they all make good stuff. If you homebrew and would like to participate drop us a note at bob@mbbf.org. If you homebrew and just want to watch and see how someone else does it, get a look at some interesting equipment, this is a great way to learn. If you don’t homebrew and want to learn…well, same thing goes. Of course you can come and socialize as well.
Brewers, we have some hop samples you can use, that were donated to the cause by Wolf, for your brew. If you interested, send us a note and we’ll let you know what’s available.
We will start about 9 AM, on Saturday, April 30.
Hope to see you there,
HDBA

Hi all,
Sorry for not getting the word out earlier; there are lots of boring excuses.
The annual HDBA St. Pat’s Party will take place on Sunday (take note Sunday), March 13th, at 1 PM. We will convene at the New Sweden Hall for the festivities. The club will provide the beer (we are a beer club after all) and the traditional corned beef and cabbage lunch. It would be nice if you bring something to share. There will be a $5 per person charge to help defray the costs.
The beer was specially selected by our party guru, Frank. He has attained a keg of Guinness Stout with the proper Nitrogen dispenser. And for you hop heads he has a half barrel of Full Sail’s Lupulin Fresh Hop Ale.
Don’t forget to wear your green!
Cheers,
HDBA
